What I Believe! I believe that all me are equal in the sight of God and that he would rather see us all be obedient to his will. I believe in the immortal words as so eloquently stated by Thomas Jefferson in his Declaration of Independence…We hold these truths to be self evident…That all men are created equal. I believe in the Golden Rule: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. I believe in the dignity of labor. I believe that everyone should work and be productive citizens. While we are all born with different gifts and abilities, we should all labor to enhance the general welfare of society. I believe that the playing field should be level and that everyone should have the same opportunity to achieve and to prosper. I believe that a man’s word should be his bond. I believe that besides giving their children a fear of God that the next most important thing that a parent can give a child is a good name. Even more so than riches. I believe that every person — and government -- should live within their means. Those who would mortgage their future with uncontrollable spending are headed for the poor house. I believe that there are limits to which any government should tread. Government has no right whatsoever to limit a person’s rights to freedom of speech; freedom of the press; freedom of religion; or the right of people to assemble peacefully. Each right carries with it a responsibility; every opportunity, an obligation; and every gift a duty. I believe that whenever one is in possession of any gift or talent that they have an obligation to use that gift or talent for the benefit of his fellow man. I believe that he who would be a leader would do so by serving his fellow man. I believe that when the individual is successful that the whole of society benefits. I believe that government should serve the people and not vice versa. I believe that the greatest attribute of all is love. |
