Hamilton County is experiencing another surge in hospitalizations. On Wednesday, September 1 2021, the National Guard was called in to help with non-medical duties, so Erlanger employees can focus the influx of patients.

Facts: Over 90% of patients in the Covid ICU unit are unvaccinated.

We are all ready for this pandemic to be over. We are all ready for a “new normal”. We are ready for neighborhood BBQs, family game nights, workplace gatherings and nights out on the town. We can get there by working together to stop the spread of COVID. One simple way you can help beat Covid is by simply wearing a mask. Here are some enlightening statistics taken from the CDC:

  • The latest forecast from the Institute of Health Metrics and Evaluation suggests that 33,000 deaths could be avoided by October 1 if 95 percent of people wore masks in public.

  • A separate series of cross-sectional surveys in the U.S. suggested that a 10% increase in self-reported mask wearing tripled the likelihood of stopping community transmission.

  • An economic analysis using U.S. data found that, given these effects, increasing universal masking by 15% could prevent the need for lockdowns and reduce associated losses of up to $1 trillion or about 5% of gross domestic product.

  • Former President, Donald J. Trump took the COVID vaccine and recently in a Georgia rally, he asked all attendees to wear a mask. Ron De Santis, governor of Florida took the COVID vaccine and booster.

Wearing a mask is one simple way we can all work together to reduce the spread of COVID in Hamilton county. No, wearing a mask is not 100% effective at preventing the spread of the virus which is quite ridiculous when you think about it.  People don’t take cholesterol medication because they’re certain they will prevent a heart attack 100% of the time. It’s about risk reduction, so mask up!
