Improving Access

To address the economic issues of Hamilton County and execute a plan for economic growth and recovery, we need the collaborative effort of our local government, our communities, churches and citizens. Systemic issues have prevented marginalized groups from finding jobs that keep them in their homes. We have zoning and redistricting policies that have shaped access to resources. We have schools that have been marginalized and communities that have been ostracized.

This doesn’t mean that economic growth isn’t possible. We need a systematic approach to handling these issues and communities of support to rally together in the face of adversity to ensure the problems we’re facing in Hamilton County are resolved.

When we find ways to improve access to affordable housing, we also need to have a plan that addresses redistribution of resources. When we execute a plan for increasing a livable wage, we also need a plan for supporting small businesses that keep Hamilton County thriving.

What I’ve seen Hamilton County accomplish over the last 16 years gives me hope that we can take these issues and create solutions that improve the quality of life for all of Hamilton county residents.
